Planning to travel abroad? Plan to get your passport! The Big Horn County Clerk of District Court's office is now a full-service Acceptance Facility with three full-time certified Acceptance Agents available to assist you with all your passport needs. U.S. citizens planning international travel may apply for their passports and get thier passport photos taken at the District Court Clerk's office located at the Big Horn County Courthouse, 420 West C Street, 2nd floor, in Basin.
Application forms and information on how to apply may be picked up at any time during the clerk's regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The actual Passport Application process and photos are available by appointment only at the District Court Clerk's office Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Services are not always available on Tuesdays and Thursdays because of busy court schedules. We ask that you please call our office in advance at 307-568-2381 to check for time and date availability to schedule your appointment.

Many court ordered payments for child support are now made to the State Disbursement Unit in Cheyenne. Effective in May 1995, a centralized payment processing system was required by federal and state law. However, the State of Wyoming received an exemption from the Department of Health and Human Services that still allows the Clerk of District Court’s office to receive and distribute child support payments.

Adoption proceedings are confidential and upon adoption, all the records are sealed. Wyoming law allows for the appointment of a confidential intermediary who has special training if, after the adoption records are sealed, an adult adoptee or an adoptee’s adoptive or biological parents request access to the court records to locate biological relatives or information regarding the biological parents’ medical or family history. The contents of the adoption record may not be revealed to anyone other than the confidential intermediary and the information therein regarding identities may only be released by the confidential intermediary with permission from all parties with an interest in protecting their own identities.
